Share prices at the Dhaka Stock Exchange today november 17 2011 : Share prices at the Dhaka Stock Exchange continued to climb for the second consecutive day on Thursday after the government’s intervention to stabilise the volatile market.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wednesday night held an emergency meeting at Gono Bhaban with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other stakeholders to find ways to prop up the market.
A detailed plan will come out in a day or two on how to gear up the market, Arif Khan, member of the SEC, told reporters after the meeting.
The general index (DGEN) of the premier bourse clambered 226 points from Wednesday’s closing of 4,987 to reach 5,214 points on Thursday at 12:23pm when this report was filed.
Total trade was at 62,724 while its value equalled around Tk 219 crore within the one and a half hours after the resumption of trading at 11:00am. Of the issues traded, 233 advanced, seven declined while one remained unchanged.For the latest updates on the stock market, visit This site regular.
