Bus Stop Crash: Woman Learns Mother Among Those Killed

LAS VEGAS -- The only thing Nichelle Garner wants is to know whether her mother was among those killed Thursday morning after a car plowed through a bus stop in the southwest Las Vegas valley.
Garner said she has asked officials to confirm whether her mother, Johnni Lee, 49, is dead, but is getting nowhere.
"I called her work and she didn't go in and she didn't call in," Garner said. "We checked the hospitals for the injured and she's not one of them."
She said she has been told to wait in a room for the coroner.
"I just really want to know if it's my mom," she said. "But they won't tell me."
Garner, who spoke through tears, described her mother as "really sweet" and "the most caring person." She said her mother works in the surgery department at Sunrise Hospital. Four of the eight injured people were taken to Sunrise for treatment.
She said her mother uses the bus daily to commute to work.
"I have GPS tracking on her phone and her phone is located at the bus stop right now," Garner said. "She takes that but every morning to work at 6:20 a.m.
"I'm playing through my mind where she could be. If it could be her. If maybe they made a mistake and she is at the hospital. It's just like a guessing game right now."
