It was nothing short of a miracle that Lindsay Burgess of St. Louis was rescued by a crew of Whirlpool Jet Boats on July 19th. Here’s what happened.
Lindsay was on the rocks below the gorge on the American side of the border, opposite the treacherous Whirlpool Rapids trying to get closer to the rapids when she slipped and fell into these Class 5 rapids.
On shore her fiancé frantically tried to get the attention of a Whirlpool Jet boat that just happened to be making a turn in the Whirlpool. He was lucky to get their attention and so was Lindsay. Boat captain Corey Ziraldo maneuvered close to her and with the help of passengers pulled the young woman on board. She was taken to a hospital in nearby Lewiston, N.Y. and evaluated with only a few bruises. This lady is one of the luckiest people on this planet.
