Victoria's Secret Fashion Show' shows ratings legs for CBS

101168_D2056
The models may have cavorted on the runway in little wisps of things, but the ratings were fully dressed.
CBS defied the skeptics once again Tuesday night and turned "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" into a ratings winner.
The lingerie extravaganza stripped down before 10.3 million total viewers, up 15% compared with last year's show, according to Nielsen.
Among the adults aged 18 to 49 demographic coveted by advertisers, "Victoria's Secret" climbed a big 35%.
Network execs have batted away criticism of the event for years, with detractors calling it everything from sexist to idiotic (ABC broadcast the show in 2001 but it's aired on CBS since). But "Victoria's Secret" has gradually turned into a genuine appointment viewing for CBS.
What's that you say? You missed the whole thing? This clip provides a taste, and the whole show is available on the CBS.com site (although the video is not, strangely, embeddable).
Speaking of appointment TV, the annual re-airing of "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer" -- the 1964 Rankin/Bass stop-motion animation special familiar to a couple generations of Americans -- likewise performed strongly for CBS. An average of 12.7 million viewers tuned in, the program's best performance in three years.

Dancing with the Stars Finale Rankings: Rob Kardashian Tops the Leaderboard! (Freestyle Videos)

Dancing with the Stars Season 13’s darkhorse, Rob Kardashian, has blown past the frontrunners and takes the lead at the top of the leaderboard. With three 9s for his waltz and three 10s for his freestyle, Rob and partner Cheryl Burke have a great shot at winning the Mirrorball Tuesday night. But, it’s not just the votes that will count now. They still have two more dances to get through on Tuesday’s Dancing with the Stars Results Show.
A fascinating event took place tonight: Derek Hough, pro partner to Rick Lake, was outscored not once. but twice in the freestyles. This is possibly the first time this has ever occurred. Remember, Derek has never been in a Dancing with the Stars Final that he hasn’t won. And usually, the finals are won in the freestyles. See the freestyle videos below. But again, we have two more dances to get through.
Let’s review the dances from part 1 of the Dancing with the Stars finale:
Rob & Cheryl  57
Waltz 27, freestyle 30
Rob’s first dance was a waltz. It was good, but not great. All three judges gushed but noted some footwork was mixed up. “You’re like the male version of Cinderella who made it to the ball” said Carrie Ann. For their promised old school freestyle, they did some old time/1920s dancing. Carrie Ann was of course "blown away." The other two judges thought it brilliant. They received perfect scores of 10s.
Ricki & Derek 54
Cha cha 27, freestyle 27
Their first dance, the cha cha, was good, but not great. Len though it could have been a bit more fluid, Bruno agreed but said Ricki had never been hotter or sexier. Carrie Ann said she was living the dance and looking fierce, but said there was some confusion with the arms.  They performed a combo quick step and salsa for their freestyle and it was pretty good except for the lifts. Ricki had not one, but two rough landings on dismount, but the judges only called out one of them. Those of you with sharp eyes caught the other one mid-dance. Len thought it was entertaining but thought Ricki lost it a bit in the quick step moves. Carrie Ann and Bruno marveled at how Ricki moved effortlessly between the two extremes of dance. It was a good dance, but not Derek’s typical wow factor freestyle.
JR & Karina 54
Cha cha 24, freestyle 30
JR Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff were already a bit tense at the beginning of the show because their freestyle rehersals were not going well. Karina couldn’t get through the lifts, and the fear in her eyes when she talked about it was evident.  JR was given the Doc’s ok to dance on the ankle, much to his fans’ relief, but things went wrong in his first dance, the cha cha. I say it was the music. The band did a lackluster rendition of "Let’s Get Loud" which just didn’t work for their cha cha. The judges said his musicality was a bit off (and I blame the music!), Len said he messed up the New York move (Who noticed? Not me!), and Bruno at least said he liked the mood he set.  Len gave him a dismal 7, Carrie Ann an 8 and but Bruno pulled out the 9. When it was the time for the freestyle, I know I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t breathe until it was over. And YES! They pulled it off expertly and brilliantly. The crowd went wild, and sorry, but Ricki & Derek’s freestlye paled in comparison.  The judges responded appropriately with three 10s. And that’s what tied up JR and Ricki.
Now on part 2 of the Dancing with the Stars Finale event, the finalists will peform their season ‘favorite dance’ which will be ranked, not scored. Phooey. Come on! This whole phoney baloney rankings for the “favorite” dances is just to help the judges throw it to their favorite in case the votes don’t come out the way they want. And who do they want? I say Carrie Ann wants Rob, the show wants Derek, but overall, the people want JR.  After the rankings, the two highest ranked/scored couples (rankings + votes + Monday night’s scores) will have to perform an Instant Samba. And THAT will determine the Dancing with the Stars Season 13 winner!
The Dancing with the Stars Results Show will feature all the Season 13 contestants, plus performances by Lady Antellbaum with pro dances. The Dancing with the Stars Finale Results Show is a 2 hour live event,

Hello and welcome to Dancing With The Stars, THE RESULTS! Tonight, the first couple of the season is sent home…saying goodbye to the mirrorball trophy forever. The show opens with a pro dance to Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory. Is it wrong how much I’ve missed these dances? The dance was choreographed by Lacey. Tom announces that the new members of the troupe will be introduced later.
Rob and Cheryl, Elisabetta and Val and Ricki and Derek are called to the stage first. We get a montage of their performances from last night before getting to their results.
Ricki and Derek: SAFE!
Elisabetta and Val: SAFE! (Holy delayed reaction Batman!)
Rob and Cheryl: IN JEOPARDY!
His picture is put on what may be the wall of shame. Everyone now knows he is in jeopardy.
Brooke talks to our two safe couples. Elisabetta thanks everyone and Val calls it a very pleasant surprise. They hope to impress with next week’s quickstep.
Ricki and Derek have the jive next week and joke about how she makes him nervous. He thinks she is dedicated and all around great.
Tom quips that Val only saw the end of Titanic because of the ‘I won’t let go’ comment.
Filler piece on everyone getting to know each other. It is actually quite cute.
Kym and Tony dance while Harry Conick Jr. sings. He reminds me of Frank Sinatra. I am falling in love! His voice is velvety and sexy. I’ve always loved him, but love him even more now. Can we get him for next season?
The next couples to find out their fates are Hope and Maks, Kristin and Mark and Metta and Peta.
Hope and Maks: SAFE!
Metta and Peta: IN JEOPARDY!
Kristin and Mark: SAFE!
The new troupe is introduced. Some old faces, some new but it went so fast I missed names!  Their performance is fun and exciting…I like this addition to the show.
Preview of Revenge…I can’t wait to see it, mostly because I am curious to see how it works as a series.
LMFAO perform Party Rock Anthem.  Mark and Lacey dance and even Bruno WTF Toniloni gets in on the action. (Tom’s words, not mine)
JR and Karina, Chaz and Lacey and Chynna and Tony come to the stage.
Chynna and Tony: SAFE!
JR and Karina: SAFE!
Chaz and Lacey: SAFE!
Look on Lacey’s face. Priceless. The love between the three couples and everyone ran up to them? Tearjerker moment. LOVE!
Brooke interviews the remaining three couples. Nancy’s kids were dancing all night like Mommy.  David was amazed about how happy and proud his daughter Coco was. Carson is ready to make his new costumes. They all head to the stage.
David and Kym: SAFE!
Nancy and Tristan: IN JEOPARDY!
Carson and Anna: SAFE!
Rob and Cheryl are called safe, leaving Metta and Peta and Nancy and Tristan in (not necessarily) the bottom two. Len gives them some words of wisdom before it is announced that the couple with the lowest overall scores and therefore leaving right now is…..Metta and Peta. I’m not surprised…only because he danced so early and kind of got lost in the shuffle. Metta gives Peta a shout out and thanks everyone at ABC. He says he had a great time and dances one last time with Peta.
Join us next week for our eleven remaining couples taking on the jive or quickstep. Goodnight!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gia is a 1998 biographical television film about the life of model Gia Marie Carangi starring Angelina Jolie, Faye Dunaway, Mercedes Ruehl, and Elizabeth Mitchell. It was directed by Michael Cristofer and written by Cristofer and Jay McInerney. The original music score was composed by Terence Blanchard.

Plot

Gia Carangi (Angelina Jolie) is a Philadelphia native who moves to New York City to become a fashion model and immediately catches the attention of powerful agent Wilhelmina Cooper (Faye Dunaway). Gia's attitude and beauty help her rise quickly to the forefront of the modelling industry, but her persistent loneliness after the death of Wilhelmina drives her to experiment with mood-altering drugs like cocaine. She becomes entangled in a passionate affair with Linda (Elizabeth Mitchell), a make-up artist. Their love affair first starts when both pose nude and make love to each other after a photo shoot. However, after a while Linda begins to worry about Gia's drug use and gives her an ultimatum: Gia chooses the drugs. Failed attempts at reconciliation with Linda and with her mother, Kathleen (Mercedes Ruehl), drive Gia to begin abusing heroin. Although she is eventually able to break her drug habit after much effort, she has already contracted HIV from a needle containing infected blood and dies from complications from AIDS in 1986 at the age of 26
