Teachers and students of Shahjalal University of Science and
Technology (Sust) brought out a procession and held a rally on the
campus on Wednesday demanding capital punishment to Jamaat leader Abdul
Quader Mollah.
Students of all 25 departments of the university along with the teachers also observed a one-hour token hunger strike from 12:45pm at ‘Sector Commanders' Forum Chattar’.
Several hundreds of teachers and students under the banner of 'Sust Family' started the procession from the library building around 12:30pm and paraded the main thoroughfares of the campus.
They also held a rally in front of the main gate of the university, reports our Sust correspondent.
Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, eminent writer and head of the electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) department of the university, took part in the rally expressing solidarity with the protest.
