Top 10 Most Expensive Google Keywords : Most Expensive PPC Keywords

How does Google make money? Surprisingly, 97% comes from online pay-per-click advertising. At WordStream we can’t get enough PPC; that’s why we decided to conduct some research and find out what the most expensive keywords are in Google. Some of our results about the most popular and most expensive PPC keywords were to be expected, while some (like cord blood and mesothelioma treatment) surprised us and our readers.

Note: If you don't quite understand this infographic, consider learning more about what is Google AdWords.
The Top 10 Most Expensive Keywords are:
  1. Insurance
  2. Loans
  3. Mortgage
  4. Attorney
  5. Credit
  6. Lawyer
  7. Donate
  8. Degree
  9. Hosting
  10. Claim
You’ll notice that these top ten most expensive AdWords keywords deal primarily with financing and industries that manage vast sums of money. The fact that the educational keyword “degree” is one of the top ten most expensive Google keywords, right up with lawyers and credit, reminds us of the growing cost of education.
The next ten most expensive keywords complete our total list, resulting the top 20 most expensive AdWords keywords:
  1. Conference Call
  2. Trading
  3. Software
  4. Recovery
  5. Transfer
  6. Gas/Electricity
  7. Classes
  8. Rehab
  9. Treatment
  10. Cord Blood
There you have it – the highest cost keywords. If you are considering entering into one of these industries, be ready to pay high cost per click rates for the top keywords. While some may start treatment facilities for the greater good, be aware that you’ll wind up in one of the most expensive niche groups, and your paid search marketing wallet will suffer from those high CPCs.
The most expensive SEM keywords may be frustrating for those in the industries, but they are the best keywords for Google, who makes 97% of revenue from advertising on Google sites (AdWords, AdSense). In the last four quarters, the biggest player of search engine history brought in $32.2 billion in total advertising revenue.

How Does Google Make Its Revenues?

Many people are surprised to find out that Google makes 97% of their revenue from online pay-per-click advertising. We decided to dig in and break apart exactly which keywords makes Google the most money.

How Was the Data for the Most Expensive Keywords Study Compiled?

For the Most Expensive Keywords Infographic, we compiled data from our own large keyword database and the Google Keyword Tool to determine the top 10,000 most expensive English-language keywords over a 90-day period.
We then organized the grand total keyword list into categories by theme, such as "Credit," or “Insurance.” The largest keyword categories were determined by weighting the number of keywords in each category, as well the estimated monthly search volume and average CPC for each keyword.

Why is Quality Score Important For Bidding on Competitive Keywords?

Quality Score is key for using AdWords effectively and getting the most out of your advertising budget. When bidding on competitive keywords, Quality Score is especially crucial because High Quality Scores can help you lower your average cost-per-click.
If you’re concerned about your Quality Score, try running the free AdWords Grader, a free tool that helps advertisers evaluate their PPC campaigns based on important metrics like Quality Score. If you score low, Quality Score can be improved by writing more targeted ad text and landing pages.

How Many Posts are Needed in a Blog to Get Approved by Google Adsense?

I was also searching for the question when I started blogging three years back in a free blogspot platform and was struggling to get approve by Google Adsense. I searched a lot in the internet, in different forums or also asked to pro bloggers. I had also got different answers from different sources. But still was not successful to get approved by Google Adsense. While checking the search terms of my blog, I still find that some people search with the term “how many posts needed to get approved by Google Adsense” or like “how many post for Google Adsense” or “how many blog post for Google Adsense“.
Google_Adsense_Things_You_Need_To_Know
May be the new bloggers who has just started blogging or entered in the vast world of blogging, are searching to earn some money from their blog through Adsense but is not successful are searching for this kind of answers. Keeping them in mind I started writing the article and I want to let you know that the answer is just not a numerical number like 20 or 30 or 100. I need to explain the whole thing so that you get a clear idea about this.
How Many Posts are Needed to Get Approved by Google Adsense?
Actually this is not an answer which can be given just by a single word. When I started blogging in blogspot, at first, I managed to post around 25 posts and then applied for Google Adsense. But the result was negative. Google did not approve my blog for adsense. Then I posted another 10 posts and again applied for Google Adsense. But the result was again the same. As the answers and reasons from Google are almost anonymous, it was hard to find the points which were missing in my blog. Then after a close look, I had found that the missing point is that my blog has some lines in the content which are copied from other website. In the beginning I was not aware that Google will penalize me If I copy content from other website. Though the contents were not fully copied but still Google detected those lines.
Then I deleted all those articles and written about 15 articles within one night with appropriate pictures. I did not copied those pictures again. I created some pictures using MS Paint and used those in the articles. Then applied for Google adsense. This time Google congratulated me! Ha ha .. I was the winner that time and Google Adsense was displaying in my blog.
I had written the story of mine because I want to provide you some message though this story. First of all, if you want to get approved by Google Adsense then do not even think of copy content from other website. Try to write original content as much as possible. Google does not like copied content.
Second thing, you need to keep in mind that If you want to get approved by Google Adsense then please do not write posts only with 100 or 120 words and one pictures. Try to write a post at least with 500 words. Then add one relevant picture and add the picture which is not copyright protected.
If you are posting content like this then post at least 20 contents. Then the process is still not over. Wait for at least 20-25 days. At least 3 weeks, before applying for Google Adsense. Add some social share plugin in your blog or share those articles in social networking site like Facebook , Twitter , Pinterest or StumbleUpon. Then try to build some backlinks to other blog or submit your blog to some popular online blog directory and also submit your blog to some popular search engine.
Keep your blog design as simple as possible and do not add other advertise network to your blog. Now, this is the time for you to apply for Google Adsense. Apply for Google Adsense and I am sure that you will get approved by Google Adsense.
So, the summary is, Google Adsense approval does not only depend only on the number of blog posts. You should publish only unique content to your blog, then need to have some social share and need to submit your blog to some search engine and wait for sometime if your blog is new.
Best of luck new bloggers! I hope you will come out with the flying colors. Happy earning with Google Adsense!

Yahoo Publisher Network or AdSense?

Yahoo Publisher network (YPN) and Google AdSense are the leading and most popular PPC (pay-per-click) programs. If you are running a website and wish to earn money through business promotion by displaying ads on your website, then don’t look any further. However the most intriguing question is that which program is the best and that which of the two offers higher profit. Well, this is a tough question to answer. Google AdSense is rated as the most prolific and market-leading PPC affiliate program in terms of affiliate base. But Yahoo is not far behind and has its own benefits too.
 Yahoo Publiser

Which is Better? Google AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)?

Based on analysis, Google AdSense provides better CTR (click-through-rate) which means whenever a person visits your website, greater are the chances of generating clicks from the visitor. The more people visit and click the Ads, the more money the advertisers will pay to the website owner.
The reason is that, Google Ads are more content specific and target audience better than Yahoo Ads. But on the other hand, Yahoo provides a better CPC (cost-per-click) than Google AdSense. CPC is nothing but the percentage of commission the affiliate programs pays per click. For a single click, Yahoo pays more than Google. Google typically pays around 30%-40% whereas Yahoo pays 60%-70% for a click.

Due to the above mixed features, one should decide which ads to display on their sites. If your web page is good enough to attract substantial number of visitors per month, there won’t be much of a difference between the revenue paid by Google and Yahoo, though experts say that Google can attract more number of visitors due to better content target ads. Most people regularly switch between Google AdSense and Yahoo publisher ads to check which program generates better revenue for their websites.
Note: If you have both Google AdSense and Yahoo publisher affiliate accounts, I would personally suggest that you display Google ads on a set of websites and Yahoo ads on another set of websites. It’s better to display Google ads on specific content oriented sites and Yahoo ads on non-content oriented sites such as entertainment sites. Users browsing non-content oriented site such as an entertainment site are more likely to click on a variety of Ads as opposed to a content visitor who is more likely to click on related topic. Since Yahoo ads are less relevant as compared to Google ads, displaying them on professional content oriented sites would not be a better idea.

Make Money With Google AdSense

Interested in making money with Google?
Here's your complete guide to getting started along with some info on how to maximize your earnings, why some accounts are disabled and even alternatives to AdSense.
If you want to jump to the various sections, use the table of contents on the right.
Below is an AdSense check I scanned from 2006. At the time, it was the largest check I had received in the three years I had been in the program.
I blurred out my address, account number and bank info for privacy reasons, of course.
google adsense earnings check
Note: Google now pays me by direct deposit, so I no longer have paper checks to show. That is why the screenshot is so old.
Here's a more recent screenshot. It's important to note that this is from 6 websites.

What is Google AdSense?

AdSense is a nice way to monetize your traffic, and very easy to implement. It's one of my top earners and has been since 2003. (See the video about my earnings further down.)
Google.com earns most of its revenue by allowing other website owners to advertise on their search results pages.
All this is managed through a program they call AdWords (pay per click marketing).
You see these ads displayed above the free/organic results and along the right side of the page on Google.com.
These are called Sponsored Results, and the advertisers are paying a certain amount of money per click for these ads.
It's an auction-based system that allows advertisers to compete for those spots. Whomever has the highest bid and most "quality" ad, gets the top spot and so forth.
Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text or image ads on your site. When someone clicks, you earn roughly 68% of the click and Google gets the rest.
This program is called AdSense.
It's a great program that can help you drive additional income to your website -- especially if it's mostly content based.
So if you are one of those people that doesn't like the idea of paying for a site, this is an excellent way to earn your money back and then some.
Please make sure you read this entire article. AdSense is not a get-rich-quick scheme and it takes a lot of work to make money. Don't think that just because you join, you are guaranteed to make big money.

How Does AdSense Work?

Here's a video I did some years back. The reason I still show it here is the concept is still exactly the same.
The biggest difference is it takes more work to build up traffic. Nevertheless, AdSense still works just as well as it did back when I created this video.

How Much Can You Earn With AdSense?

The commission you receive per click depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the particular ad. You will earn a share of that amount.  I've heard of earnings anywhere from 2 cents to $15 per click.
Getting over $1 is probably very rare, although it does happen from time to time. However, you will find that most of your earnings will be on the lower end of the spectrum.
It's important to note that I cannot estimate how much you will earn based on your traffic. People always want to know what the average amount is per click.
No one knows the answer to this except Google, so don't let anyone try to tell you any different. It would be impossible for myself or any AdSense publisher to give this information because the ads all cost different prices and we have no idea what advertisers are paying.
However, there are some niches that obviously pay more. So it is logical to believe that keyword phrases like sex, make money, etc. may earn you more per click since these are highly competitive keywords that are searched for quite a bit on
The more competitive the search term, the more the advertisers pay and the more you earn as a publisher.
Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each ad that is clicked from your site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've generated that day, week, month, year, etc.
For example, if you see that you've made $12.60 today from 9 clicks then you can calculate that your average click-thru commission was $1.40 per click.  That's as detailed as their stats will get.  Also remember, that's only an average.  You won't know how much each specific ad brought in.
The amount you'll earn also depends largely on the amount of targeted traffic you receive to your own site, how well the ads match your audience's interests, the placement of the ads on your pages, and of course the amount you receive per click.
Ideally, you should create a site on a topic you know a lot about.  That way you'll have a much easier time creating a generous amount of content on that subject.

My Google AdSense Earnings

AdSense CheckI have been receiving monthly checks from Google since 2003 (yes that's me holding the same check from above), and I've read numerous success stories of websites earning 5 digit incomes per month with AdSense.
Now, I will admit, a 5-digit commission in a single month is probably not the norm for most participants.
I promote AdSense on 6 of my websites (2 blogs, a forum and 4 static sites). My earnings vary greatly between $5K and $8K per month. A lot depends on traffic and how much the advertisers are spending on ads.
My sites have been around for a long time and I have a great deal of traffic so that's a big reason why I earn so much. I promote my sites on social media, create YouTube videos etc. Making a lot of money with AdSense is all about numbers. The more traffic you have, the greater the earning potential.
My checks weren't always this large.  I think my first month's earnings in 2003 totaled less than $20. However, as my traffic increased, so did my checks.
I cannot emphasize this enough. AdSense is NOT an overnight get-rich-quick opportunity. Even though this may look easy, please don't underestimate the amount of work I've put into my sites over the years.

Creating Your Website for AdSense

Before you even begin your site, make sure you've come up with a topic that you feel you know plenty about.  That way it will be easiest to write a lot of content.
The more content you have, the better chance you have getting accepted into the program.  Also, the more content and traffic, the greater the earning potential.
If you want to make a lot of money, prepare to write a lot of content and learn how to market your site. Don't expect to throw up a 10 page site and make $1,000 per month. That's unrealistic.
Now let's talk about building your website.  There are two ways you can approach this:
1) Do it Yourself (DIY) from scratch
2) Use Site Build It! (SBI!)

The Do It Yourself Method

I've actually used both methods for building my site and there are advantages and disadvantages to both. So the option you choose, depends on what you're comfortable with.
If you use the DIY method, you will have to go and get a domain (yoursite.com) and then sign up for a web host and build your pages.
Decide if you want a static website like this or a blog. If you don't know the difference, this article will help you out.
Averaging between $3 and $10 per month, the DIY method is usually the most cost friendly of the two but you are mostly on your own in terms of learning how to create your web pages and adding the AdSense code to your site.
Web hosts are generally there to house your site.  They don't specialize in helping you market and optimize your site for the search engines to help you get traffic.  So don't expect a lot from them in terms of helping you market your site and making money with Google AdSense.
This is not necessarily a bad thing.  I had to learn how to build this site on my own and it wasn't very difficult.
I now manage all of my static sites with Dreamweaver. My blogs use WordPress.

Consider Using Site Build It! (SBI!)

This is a revolutionary web host like no other. I use it for my site, flat-stomach-exercises.com, and AdSense is the #1 way this website earns money.
I don't make a ton of money because it's not my primary site, but the site definitely pays for itself and then some! I actually just created this website to test the website building system out.
The reason SBI! is different from the other do-it-yourself hosts is that first it provides all the web page building and marketing help all in one place.  Your domain registration, web hosting, website builder, and marketing help come with the price.
They provide you with a brainstorming tool so you can research and select a "profitable" niche based on monthly keyword searches/demand. Then they guide you to building your website using their Video Action Guide.
Now, it's important to note that SBI! does not build your site for you. That's up to you. They simply provide the guidance so you can optimize your site for AdSense or other programs.

How to Join AdSense

Once you have 20-30 pages on your site, go to http://adsense.google.com to apply.
When you are accepted, simply copy and paste the provided HTML code into any page that you'd like to show the ads. You can opt to display text ads, image ads, or a combination of both. It's up to you.
You can either display the ads vertically along side the page like Google does or in a banner-like formation horizontally across your pages.  You can even customize the colors to match your site's theme.

Tips on Succeeding With AdSense

Here are some tips for achieving success with Google AdSense.
Build Traffic
You're not going to make anything with AdSense if you don't have enough traffic. Please don't think this is some easy, get-rich-quick program. This takes work and it all starts with getting visitors.

4 ways to stay out of ETF trouble

Exchange-traded funds are open-ended funds that can be bought and sold on a stock exchange. You can think of them as a hybrid version of both stocks and index funds. You buy them using a broker, just like you would to purchase a stock. They consist of a portfolio of securities that are designed to track different indexes, just like index funds.
The first ETF was launched in 1993, and since then they have become very popular with investors. According to BlackRock's December 2013 industry highlights data, the ETF industry has captured $2.4 trillion in assets since 1993. There are almost 5,000 ETFs available.
Used appropriately, ETFs can permit you to assemble a globally diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds, in a suitable asset allocation, at a low cost. Unfortunately, ETFs can be a trap for the unwary. Here are some tips to avoid potential pitfalls.

Avoid high-fee ETFs

A high-cost ETF should be an oxymoron. A primary benefit of buying ETFs is the ability to track an index at a low cost. Unless the ETF you are buying has a lower expense ratio (management fee) than a comparable low-cost index fund, you should consider purchasing the index fund instead.
Just because an investment is designated as an ETF doesn't mean it's low-cost. There are a number of ETFs that have expense ratios in excess of 1 percent. A few have expense ratios that exceed 2 percent. At the other end of the spectrum, ETFs are available with expense ratios as low as 0.04 percent.
When comparing ETFs that track the same index, with all else being equal, you should purchase the lowest-cost ETF available.

Avoid low-liquidity ETFs

Liquidity is an important consideration to make when selecting an ETF. An ETF that is highly liquid will have lower trading costs and be easier to buy and sell than an ETF that is less liquid.
The liquidity of an ETF is affected by many factors. These include the trading volume of the securities that make up the ETF, the composition of the ETF and the trading volume of the ETF itself.
ETFs that invest in large-cap stocks in developed economies, or track broad indexes, are the most liquid, writes William Artzberger, a CFA based in Houston, on Investopedia. For fixed income, ETFs in which the underlying bonds are Treasury bonds or corporate-grade bonds are more liquid than ETFs that hold riskier bonds.

Avoid leveraged and inverse ETFs

The securities industry is incredibly adept at creating new products that encourage trading. Leveraged and inverse ETFs are examples of products that were created to be sold and not bought.
A leveraged ETF seeks to amplify the returns of an underlying index, using financial derivatives. For example, a leveraged ETF that tracks the Nasdaq-100 index might have a 2-to-1 or even a 3-to-1 ratio, and would be structured to return twice or three times the returns of the underlying index. Of course, if the underlying index drops in value, your losses would be increased by twice or three times the losses in the index.
An inverse ETF is structured to benefit from a decline in the value of the underlying index. Depending on the structure of the inverse ETF, investors can earn double or triple the percent of losses in the underlying index.
There are many problems with leveraged and inverse ETFs. The most obvious is they are highly risky investments. Investing in these funds is pure speculation, rather than responsible, long-term investing.
There is also concern about whether or not these funds perform as advertised. A survey of leveraged and inverse ETFs, which was released in the spring 2012 edition of The Journal of Index Investing and authored by Gerasimos Rompotis, concluded that over longer periods of time (more than one day), returns of these funds may not perform as advertised.
Finally, the management fees charged by leveraged and inverse ETFs are among the highest of those levied by all ETFs. For example, a leveraged commodities fund issued by VelocityShares has an expense ratio of 1.65 percent.

Avoid trading ETFs

One of the oft-stated benefits of ETFs is that they trade on an exchange and you can easily buy and sell them, just like stocks. However, John Bogle, founder of the Vanguard group, says this ability to trade is both a blessing and a curse.
The wide array of available ETFs encourages bad investor behavior, like trying to select outperforming asset classes and engaging in in-and-out trading. Bogle believes investing in ETFs should be limited to funds that track broad stock and bond indexes.

Bing Rewards: A Quick Guide

Bing Rewards is program sponsored and run by Microsoft, that rewards users for completing searches via Bing. Every two searches the user is rewarded with points, which can then be cashed in for gift cards and even Swagbucks (which is currently the most rewarding option if you use Swagbucks as well.) The other cool thing about Bing Rewards, is unlike other rewards programs, you are allowed to have up to four accounts per household. This means you can quadruple your earnings each month.

Basic Information:

  • Open To: Users who are 13+ and residents of the US only (sorry!)
  • Referrals: 200 500* credits once you referral reaches Silver Status (completes the welcome tours and earns 200 credits for themselves)
*For a limited time, Bing is offering 500 credits for each new referral. That's basically a whole $5 gift card!
  • Cash Outs: Various gift cards, store discounts and Swagbucks bonuses starting at $3.00 = 340 credits for Silver Level / 330 credits for Gold Level
  • Earning Effort: Minimum
Recommended Routine:
  1. Check the Bing Rewards dashboard daily. Every day you will have a few one point offers that upon clicking will reward you (like a CPC).
  2. Do your daily 30 searches (1 credit every 15 searches) to get all your credits for the day. You can use an automated service like Bing Pong or you can simply click Search Bing < Images and click through all the related links until your daily goal has been met. You can also make your own script to click through links rather easily using AutoHotkey. Here is the script I use.
Other Tips & Tricks:
  • If you already have Qmee, your searches can be eligible for Qmee cash. Make sure you have Qmee on when you do these searches so you can double your potential rewards!
  • It is most rewarding to use Bing Rewards to cash out for Swagbucks bonuses. As a Gold Level, 500 SB = 475 credits. Bing Rewards pays you in a Swagcode that can be redeemed. You can redeem your Bing Rewards for Swagbucks up to 50 times.

Intro to AdSense payments

Wondering when your AdSense payment will arrive? Trying to figure out whether you'll be paid this month or next month? This guide explains our payment process.

Steps to getting paid

You must complete all the steps below before we'll issue your first AdSense payment.
1. Select your form of payment
Depending on your payment address, there may be several forms of payment available to you, including Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), EFT via Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), checks, and Western Union Quick Cash. To select a form of payment, visit your Payment settings page.
2. Provide your tax information (not required in all locations)
Depending on your location, we may be required to collect tax-related information. To provide tax information, visit the Payee profile page in your AdSense account. Click the edit link next to "Tax information". Our interface will guide you to the appropriate forms and requirements for your account.
3. Confirm payee name and address
Since Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), which we'll describe below, are sent to the mailing address in your account, it's important to confirm the accuracy of your payment address and payee name.
If you need to correct any information, follow the instructions in our Help Center.
4. Verify your address
When your earnings reach the address verification threshold, we'll mail a Personal Identification Number to the payee address in your AdSense account. You must enter this PIN into your AdSense account before we can issue any payments. Your PIN will be sent by standard post and may take up to 2-3 weeks to arrive.
5. Meet the payment threshold
If your current balance reaches the payment threshold by the end of the month, a 21-day payment processing period begins. After the processing period ends, we'll issue a payment.
For example, say the payment threshold for your account US$100. If your current balance reached $100 during January and you completed the 5 steps above, we would issue a payment at the end of February.
If your current balance hasn’t yet reached the payment threshold, your finalized earnings will roll over to the next month and your balance will accrue until the threshold is met.
Payments are sent within approximately 30 days of the end of the month.
