My Uterus, Husband, and I Agree – No Children

I see having a child as a status symbol. It’s like that huge one day event we call a wedding (didn’t have one of those either) The months of preparation, cute little clothes and toys, the parties and such that results in a day of labor and boom … reality-marriage and/or child.

What is with all these magazines on the news stands? From fitness magazines to tabloids, headlines splash the covers about how to be "The Best You", "Lean for Life" or promise "The Best Anti Aging Tips". These magazines have been around for decades. I have LIFE magazines that date back to the 1940's and one thing that hasn't changed are articles centered around women's issues
So my question is: Are they purposely targeting the insecurities of women to keep readers or are they genuinely, month after month, coming out with better weight loss tips and wrinkle solutions? The jury is still out on this one but it is definitely something I find myself thinking about when I see 5 magazines all proclaiming have the best this and best that.

Another reservation I have about these magazines is the ideology and obsession to have the perfect body, glowing skin, while being successful at the same time. Yes, this is possible for some but for many juggling a full time job, school, fun, and a family it seems a little far fetched. Not to mention we do not have the professional photographer, make upartist, or stylist on hand and don't get me started on photoshop. 
How is it possible that monthly these tips and tricks change or evolve? Magazines are basically a yo-yo diet. January be a vegan ; Feburary cut out all carbs, March eat lean meat ; May eat complex carbs ; June back to being vegan. They say it takes 2 weeks to form a habbit. Are these magazines creating unhealthy habits? Are they useful? Are the accurate? I'll let you decide!
